Spring is here! (Kind of.)

*Sigh.* Spring. My favorite season. It's finally starting to show it's face! The other day it was 60 degrees, so me and Jordan decided to go on a walk with our new wrap! (Which is super comfy and we're in love with.)

(Please excuse my claw. I don't know how, but I always manage to do it!)

Then we played in the yard for a bit.

(I love that water bottle.)

And yesterday it was about 55 degrees, so we went to the park! It was his first time.

Spring is also the season of me and Jordan's birthday! My baby boy will be one in just 19 short days. Yes, I'm panicking. Haha! I'm thinking I'll get him a water table for outside, a baby pool, and some other outdoor toys. Along with books and this:

Name THIS slug, Hug Me Slug, Original Art Toy by Elizabeth Ruffing, 9 inch, Fleece, Medium Green and Red, Ready-made

I think he's just the cutest thing! You can get your own at this etsy shop.

Well, I'm off to go put Jordan down for a nap! Bye!

Slacking!

So I've been slacking on the posts. Our schedules are severely off and I hate updating so late. It gets me jumbled. But alas, here I am doing it anyway.

I've been cleaning with my vinegar solution for about 2 days now. It's been going great! Everything is clean, and I didn't have to use those nasty clorox wipes. The smells of that and windex always made me feel like I was being fumegated (sp?). Not good for me, or Ms. Scarlett, I'm sure!

I've got a couple new things coming my way! First, some Flip & Tumble 24/7 bags and produce bags that I got through a co-op on BabyCenter. I'm so excited about these! I'm really sick of watching the grocery bags pile up in my house. Besides, these are way cuter!

I also have a new (to me) wrap coming that I bought off the for sale or trade board on The Babywearer. It is so beautiful! Now I just need to put my green wool fish up on the swap to replace the money I used on the natibaby... Haha! I have someone wanting to trade me for my geckos sahara which I'm pretty sure I'm going to do... Major stash churning going on right now!

We've been eating a lot better now. I'm incoporating as many whole foods into our diet as I can without overwhelming myself. The transition from highly processed foods to whole foods is difficult, but it's harder for me to be trying new things. I'm a VERY picky eater but I'm trying new things to better our diet and save money. I've been cooking things like brown rice and chicken soup (delicious!), lentil soup, chicken noodle soup (I know, lots of soup!), stir fry, etc. Tomorrow I'm going to be making these pancakes. I'm also doing a mini pledge from 100 Days of Real Food, which you can find here. Seems easy enough! I'll be participating in as many of these pledges as I'm comfortable with to help with the transition to healthier eating.

I fell in love with these shoes today:
Romano, camel
They're on nomadicstateofmind.com which I heard about in Whole Living Magazine. I think they're so cute and would be great for going on walks.
Oh, and check out this giveaway on Beryl Lynn's blog!

Swiffer sucks, the library rocks, and other things.

Yesterday, for the first time in years, I used a real mop. Not the spaghetti looking kind, the sponge kind. I'd only been using Swiffer and Swiffer wetjet this whole time. I don't know what I was thinking. The mop works so much better! My floors looked so shiny and clean! So I'm officially ditching the swiffer. Which is fine considering tomorrow starts my all natural cleaning! I'll be using a half & half mixture of water and vinegar, with peppermint essential oil for a nice smell. I wanted to get a different scent but couldn't. Maybe another time!

I also went to the library yesterday. I got Whole Foods Market Cookbook (pretty useful), Organic Buying (kind of sucks), Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, and a couple others. I love Ina May. I read her book Spiritual Midwifery during my pregnancy with Jordan, and the stories were so inspiring! I ended up having an epidural for his birth, but it was a great read. I plan on a waterbirth this time so I'm sure I'll be clinging to this book!

The other day, I found a link to see what was in my local tapwater. There were A LOT of things. Some were above the legal limit, most were above the health limit (which sounds silly to me.) And I discovered there was chloroform in our water. It was very disturbing. So while at the store, I bought a gallon of reverse osmosis filtered water.
We went to the store yesterday as well. I bought LOTS of produce. Any snacks I got (not too many), I bought organic Meijer brand. Surprisingly, it was cheaper than non-organic name brands. It's been weird not eating what I'm used to eating. I'm guessing I'll have to retrain my body to only eat healthy food, instead of all the processed crap I've been eating most of my life. I already miss it, but not enough to go back. Not at all. We had a great dinner tonight, too! Chicken and cheese quesadillas, stir fry, and I had some Green Machine Naked (bottled smoothie). Odd combination, I know,  but it was delicious!

(P.S. I'm aware of how jumbled this post is. I'll try and change that in the future. Haha!)

My first post!

This is my first post on my first blog. I figure I should probably tell a bit about myself.

My name is Briana. I'm a young mommy to my handsome prince, Jordan Isaiah, who was born April 7th, 2010. He is the light of my life. He's such a smart, happy little boy, and I'm proud to say I'm his mother.

I'm also 17 weeks pregnant with a little girl! My dream come true, a son then a daughter! Her name will be Scarlett Elizabeth and she's due to arrive August 3rd, 2011. I get more and more excited as the days go by.

I cloth diaper, babywear, and cosleep. I'm working on becoming crunchier. We're slowly starting to integrate more organic/whole foods and use natural cleaning products (I'm so excited to try soapnuts!).

(Jordan is his amber teething necklace!)

Well, that's all I can think of to tell you about us! So until next time...
